"Mississippi Blues" opens with a bus wreck and the escape of an obvious criminal. Just like that the reader is sucked into the story because you can't--at least, I couldn't--imagine why the author chose to put Jace Hill front and center at the start of the book/5. About halfway through this book I realized I had read the Nanotech Quartet out of order (I read Crescent City Rhapsody before this, even though that is the 3rd book of the quartet while Mississippi Blues is the 2nd).
